What has been going on in the world of Playford in the last two weeks? Quite a bit considering it is only just August.
The Reserves have played a very early pre-season match, they were pitted against The Feathers, a team from the same division as our First Team, and did very well. At one point they were leading the match quite convincingly. In the end the result went 6-5 in the favour of The Feathers, but the quality shown by the players especially the integration of new recruits is something to get excited about.
The club hosted a Sunday morning training session that saw half of our playing squad join in for the hour match. I must admit that only half the squad is a little disappointing it is to be expected during the summer holidays. I got what I needed out of the morning which was a good hours running around and plenty of time with a ball at my feet in a semi-competitive environment.
Playford Athleticos have secured two more wins. The Monday Night tournament is providing our new players more opportunities to get to know our existing players and I am using it as a platform to gain match sharpness. I found during the match on Monday, thanks to Sunday’s training, that I was much more able to achieve what my mind wanted. Indeed I even managed to hit a couple of decent passes, one of which resulted in a goal for Byron.
Behind the scenes I have been scratching around and failing to find referees for our up coming friendlies. At one point I had tried eleven different referees and managed to secure a ref for one fixture. But thanks to the managers of Hardy Transport and Lattice Barn for finding referees a damn sight faster than I have managed we will be cover this coming Sunday.
The club have recovered debts that now see us owed only £120, I say “only” but it had been as bad as £320. I hope to collect a little bit more at the end of season awards night taking place in around two hours! That reminds me I better pick up the trophies from the engravers on the way.
