Byron Stretton - Reserve's Players Player of the Season
In third place was Manager's Player, Josh Bolton. In second place was leading goalscorer Ryan Broadhurst. This years winner was Byron Stretton. Byron won this award two years ago and like that season was well out in front of Broadhurst, scoring 60% more vote points.
Like two seasons ago Byron won seven Man of the Match awards beginning on the opening day against Spartans. This was followed by three in four appearances, against The Feathers Reserves, Elmsett United Reserves and Suffolk Spartans again! He achieved the same three in four at the end of the season in matches against Trinity, Rushmere & Diamonds and another double, Elmsett United Reserves. In addition he was runner up away against Hardy in the league and against Bardwell and Monarchs in both cups.
As I have not been involved much this season I will leave it to two players that were very regular this season to sum up Byron's contribution to the Reserves.
Playford's answer to Kante, Byron easily covers the most distance during every game he plays. While his engine is slowly decreasing as he enters his thirties, Byron is the perfect leader. Flying hard into tackles, sprinting to get back and cover John and even going on a little dribble now and then, Byron is the captain every team needs, even the Firsts want him! Byron lets his football do the talking and is always doing what he can to help the team, very deserving of the award this season. - Dean Harris (voted for Byron 13 times).
It was a pleasure playing midfield this season with Byron, captain, leader, legend. He's a very tidy player and a great lad who you can always rely on to make an option and you can trust him to keep the ball under pressure, he made me a better players this season and I hope to continue playing with him next campaign. - Josh Bolton, Manager's Player of the Season.
